We used Windows Movie Maker to amke our movie.

Special Olympics Advertising

Walt: create an advertisement persuading people to go to the Special Olympics here in Palmerston North.

I used MS Publisher to create this poster.

To make my poster stand out and grab the reader’s attention I used bright colours that go with the back ground and have pictures that go with the event.
I found making the words stand out challenging because there were no good colours to go with the background.
Something I enjoyed was learning how to use a new program to do my work on.
In my poster I used pictures off Clip art and I used eyecatching colours and words.

Special Olympics Movie

WALT: follow an inquiry process and present out inquiry learning about the Special Olympics using MS Movie maker.

Before making this movie, I looked over the feedback I received last term for my movie about China. Some of the things I took into consideration and tried to improve on when making this movie were to use a loud and clear voice and use different background.

Something interesting I have learnt about the Special Olympics during this inquiry is that you have to be 5 or over to compete and over 1million people participate.

A challenge I found in this inquiry was having to remember the words before we were on camera, I maneged to solve this by trying to make scenes where the person behind the camera could hold the script or make some scenes have to have the script.

This term we have been learning about China, we have continued building on the inquiry skills we have learnt in term 2. We brainstormed open questions as a class and then delegated these out to pairs.

The part of China Simone and I were finding out more about was China's Traditions, Beliefs and Religions. We found our information on the Internet and from books. We used a data chart to make sure we triangulated all our information so we knew it was true. We then used Movie Maker to present our inquiry.

Something I enjoyed was working with my best friend an learning how to use a new programme. An interesting fact I found out was that the Chinese light off fire crackers to scare off the bad spirits for the New Year also if Yin and Yang are balanced people are happy. My next learning step in inquiry is to try and find more information on my triangulated sheet.

Today in reading we were using our Key Word strategy to find out more information about China. Something I found really interesting was that they had to eat a Salted Duck Egg and Cold Prawns.

Last week Cindy's Dad came to share with us all about China. He gave us Moon Cake because Moon Cakes are a special Chinese Dessert and they eat them at their Autumn Celebration which is this time of year . An interesting fact I learnt was that Chinese people write differently to us and they have a Traditional writing and a Simplified writing. I really enjoyed the part when we got to eat the Moon Cakes because they were really yummy.

Famous people in early Christian Communities.

Walt: develop and understanding of the early Christian Church.
In the early Christian communities there were many outstanding people among the Apostles and believers. This person is St Peter. He carried out the Churches mission by caring for Christians and spreading the word about Jesus and God even though it was a threat.

As part of the Church Strand we are learning about the Key Competency, Participating and Contributing. Showing this Key Competency helps us to be more like Jesus because we can carry out the Churches mission of service and share our gifts and talents with others. I used Animoto to present these photo's of people Participating and Contributing around St James school.

Names and Images of God.

Walt: Identify different names and images of God.

I used Webspiration to do this double bubble map comparing the names and images of God in the Old Testament to the names and images of God in the New Testament.
Some of the differences I noticed that in the New Testament there are more names and images for God than in the Old Testament.
The main idea I get from looking at scriptures about God is that God looks after his people, loves for them and cares for them.

St Peters Open day!!

Yesterday the Year 6's went to St Peters open day. During the day we played Sport, the Drums and I went to Science Class.I learnt that St Peters is a very good school.The part I liked best was going to the Tuck shop because we don't have one at school and it was a special treat.

YR6 CAMP!!!!!!!!CHALLENGING!!!

THE MOST CHALLENGING MOMENT ON CAMP WAS THE CONFIDENCE COURSE BECAUSE WE HAD TO LIFT PEOPLE THROUGH HOLES AND THE NEXT THING WE NEW WE WERE FLYING THROUGH MIDAIR AND FALLING BACKWARDS OFF A BIT OF PLANK. WE HAD TO KEEP BALANCE ON A HUMAN SCALE FOR 10 SECONDS. ALSO 5 OF US WERE STANDING ON ONE PIECE OF WOOD AND ONE BIT IN OUR HANDS TRYING TO GET ACROSS THE ''LAVA''.(MUD)

The highlight of Camp for me was Caving because it was a challenge and gave us a chance to overcome our fears.

As part of RE and Holy Week, we have been learning about how Jesus lived a life of love-Aroha for God and people.

Jesus callls us to live a life of love just like he did. This comic life shows ways we can be Jesus example of Love.
